In our continuous process of innovation and improvement, investing in product testing to ensure quality and safety is a key priority in Novatik’s quality policy.
Product testing can be carried out through various methods, including laboratory testing, controlled-environment testing, or real-world use. Novatik applies all these approaches to evaluate aspects such as corrosion resistance, durability, mechanical and physical performance, and compatibility with other products or environments.
One of the tests used for Novatik products is “accelerated ageing in salt spray”. This refers to the process through which the Novatik NATURA volcanic stone–coated metal panels are evaluated for their mechanical and physical properties, as well as their corrosion resistance when exposed to salt spray. The process accelerates the natural ageing of metal panels due to the presence of salt and other corrosive agents in the saline environment.
The test is performed by exposing materials to a controlled environment that simulates salt spray conditions, providing insight into how the materials behave under this type of corrosive exposure.
The Construction Equipment and Technologies Research Institute in Bucharest, through the ICECON TEST Laboratory, RENAR-accredited, tested the Novatik NATURA products using the method
“Corrosion tests in artificial atmospheres. Salt spray test according to SR EN ISO 9227:2017, PIF-21.”
The 500-hour salt spray test is considered a reference test for metal roofing materials, as it provides information on accelerated ageing and corrosion resistance. It can be used to compare different metals and protective or decorative coatings, helping determine which materials are best suited for specific applications.
After 500 hours of exposure, the samples showed an impeccable appearance, with no defects, no flaking or visible cracks, no colour changes, and outstanding corrosion resistance, evidenced by the complete absence of rust.
These excellent test results confirm the quality of the products and support the company’s success and credibility by meeting customer expectations and strengthening a positive and solid reputation.
